Fake Isle Hat Finished
I finished the Fake Isle Hat while watching the Panthers win on Monday Night Football. Hurray!
Pattern: Fake Isle Hat by Amy King from the November, 2006 issue of Mag Knits
Started/Finshed: Nov 12-14, 2006
Needles: Size 6 16" circular and 4 dpns
Yarn: One skein of Noro Kureyon color #102 and about 25 yards of Galway wool.
Reflections: A great project for Norovember and a good intro to fair isle. I'm still loving it! It's a well written pattern; it worked suprisingly quickly despite my ineffiecient two color knitting methods, and I learned a lot, and I'm ready to tackle more fair isle Overall, I'm very pleased with how she turned out. Grace said that I need to loosen my floats a little more, so it's a little puffy at the top, but I can block that out if I want.
As I worked on her at Barnes and Noble last night, I enjoyed all the compliements I got from the other knitters and passers by. The colors of the Noro Kureyon really make the fair isle look more complicated.
I need to cast about for a good colors for a companion hat for Patrick.
It fits well too. I'll model her along with my other hats next time around.
Oh, I ordered the yarn for this sweet hat that I found on the web today. I'm determined to get wear out of it in coastal South Carolina.
No fear! Perhaps, I'll try the matching mittens someday.
Your hat looks awesome! I've had my fair share of float trouble myself at times. Way to go! :)

What beautiful colors! I haven't even tried fair isle yet, but it looks scary. I'm not very good with charts, hehe. I wish I had the knitting skills to do that while watching tv, go you!

Great Fake Isle! I'm so glad you commented on mine, cuz in brought me here to your lovely site and all your fun knits. I started a second Fake Isle in a bright color like yours but got stumped on the contrast. I forgot I might have some Galway...
