Not By Technology Alone
Although I went to Myrtle Beach this past weekend primarily for CREATE South, I couldn't resist the allure of visiting the three yarn shops that are along the way.
Island Knits
I first stopped by Island Knits in Pawleys Island. I've been there I few times, and there is a store in the same complex that Patrick likes, so we are both happy.
Here's what I picked up.
Some Noro sock yarn . Two balls of Freedom Spirit (I adore the color), and a Profi crochet hook.
Knitting Up A Storm
Pat's mom lives about 1o minutes away from the shop, so I had to drop in.
I got a tape measure--always misplacing those, a notepad, some sale yarn, and a cross stitch pattern.
Knit N Purl
I first heard about this new LYS on Ravelry, so after CREATE South, I called the store and got directions. Even though I lived in Myrtle Beach for 12 years before I moved to Charleston in 1999, I often feel like a tourist there now because so much is new.
I got to the shop with no problems though. It's out on Carolina Forest Blvd. There's not much out there now, but there's a lot of building going on around it. it's been open just a couple of months or so.
I like the hardwood floods and the crocheted tablecloths and doilies around the shop.
I like the yarn selection too. Here's some Cascade...
and some sock yarn...
I especially enjoyed talking to Phyllis, the owner.
Here's my haul.
Some Cascade 220 for a couple of Carolina Panthers beanies
Some Cascade Heritage sock yarn and some Berroco Comfort sock.
Have I mentioned I haven't knitted any socks this year? Does sock yarn count as stash?
It's a real cute shop, and if you are anywhere in the area, do stop by.

Great hauls at both stores!
I've only completed one pair of socks this year, I seemed to have lost my sock knitting mojo. I do have two different socks on the needles, just haven't knit much on them.

I think it's pretty much written in stone somewhere that sock yarn does NOT count as stash! Maybe it's because for socks you only have to buy one or two skeins. Nice haul!

Thank you for posting this! I am visiting MB for the first time in about two weeks and was wondering about the LYS situation. Thank you!
