Never Be The Same?
Long time readers of the blog are well aware of my adoration that borders on obsession for the music of Neil Finn and Crowded House. Even so, I'm one of those "you can never go home again" types so I'm not as excited as I think I should be about this. Perhaps it's because Paul Hester is gone, and the group will never be the same again.
To that end, I've been playing all my Crowded House/Neil Finn/Finn Brothers CD and reading through my copy of Love this Life in order to get into the right mood. I also ordered the DVD of their farewell tour, and I'm looking forward to the new CD coming out in a few months.
They will have a world tour--dates and venues tba--and I must see them if they get anywhere resonably near Charleston.
Thanks so much Beth for letting me know. It's amazing this slipped by me. I've been slumming.
Just Monkeying Around
I started the Monkey sock last weekend. Cookie A. has done it again. It's a fabulous and easy pattern, but I did have problems with gauge.
I love the Koigu but not the way it's pooling on the sock and with size 2 dpns it's going to be way too large.
Just right! I went to super pointy Knit Picks size 1 needles which are size 1.5 (and actually what the patten calls for).
I'm on my way.
Fair Isle Bag
In my last post I did a review of the new Family Circle Easy Crochet, and pointed out a bag I really liked. It looked like Tapestry crochet and I questioned (without reading the article) why they referred to the bag as Fair Isle crochet.
Upon actually reading the article, I learned that the non working yarn is not carried on top of the stitches as in tapestry but loosely in the back--kind of like fair isle. This makes for a lighter fabric than tapestry. Regina address this in her comment to me--thanks.
I brought the yarn on Thursday and started the bag. I wanted to use cotton instead of wool. The LYS didn't have the same colors as in the magazine so I improvised.
Here's what she looks like this morning.
Eeek! It looks like an Easter egg. It colors are truer in the first two photos, and I do like how it's working up.
***Update*** Here's a better photo. The colors are still pretty loud though.
Here's a shot of the floats.
Sweet! This old crocheter has learned a new trick.
Non Football Weekend--Let the Withdrawl Begin
Alas, no football this weekend :-( I'm looking forward to the Colts and Bears mixing it up in next week's Super Bowl. There will be tons of coverage and analysis this week on ESPN and the NFL Network, but I'm starting to get over saturated already.
Perhaps, I'll watch a little basketball. I used to love watching the NBA, but football took over, and I let basketball go. Still, I like to watch the Suns, Spurs, and Mavricks.
