A Quiet Thanksgiving Day
Pat and I spent a nice quiet Thanksgiving with plenty of food and football. I didn't knit or crochet at all. It was nice just to sit around and eat and relax.
A Busier Black Friday
Normally, I don't go shopping on the day after Thanksgiving, and I've been really dismayed by many of the terrible stories I've heard of fights, robberies, and general awfulness, but I needed to go to the bank, and there is a new Best Buy nearby, so Pat and I decided to walk over and check it out.
It was around 11:30 am. The store was crowded, and the police were parked in front. All the sales papers were gone, but I borrowed one from a employee. They still had the personal DVD player I wanted, and we both got MP3's for half price. Not bad.
We then headed to the mall, just to walk about. Again, it was crowded, but we got a good parking place and just had a nice time window shopping and people watching.
The record store across from the mall had some $1.00 CDs and $3.00 DVDs. I got an armful for $12.00 including two brand new French and Saunders DVDs. Sweet.
I spent the rest of the day watching my Pinky and the Brain DVDs (loved the feature with the cast), and reading the latest National Geographic magazine which features an article on my favorite planet.
Oh, we ate lots of leftovers.
Still no knitting, and my LYS was closed. I did wind up several hanks of yarn that I had lying around.
Finally, Some Knitting
Yesterday, we made our way to the LYS. I had started another Ella hat from Hip Knit Hats (which I like spite of the pattern errors). I love my first Ella, and I wanted to try her again in a Noro yarn in the spirit of Norovember. I also wanted to use something besides Kureyon or Silk Garden too.
So using a skein of Iro (color #19), here's Ella II!
I love how she turned out!
I must have hit the learning curve on entrelac, because she was a very fast and enjoyable knit. I started her yesterday morning, worked on her for a couple of hours before I went to the LYS, worked on her for a couple of hours at the LYS, and finished her up when I came home.
The only change I made was to add 10 more stitches to the band or else it would have been too tight, and she fits me well.
I also finally finished my Irish Hiking Scarf.
The color on the top one is more true. I ran out of the gorgeous Liisu yarn at 50", but she's long enough. When I first learned to knit, I would have never thought about cables with variegated yarn, but it can work.
I want to make Irish Hiking Hat soon.
More knitting for today. I want to get back to the Kristina Bag that I hadn't worked on since Monday, and I would like to finish up my mostly crocheted scarf.
I'm also cleaning out my closets, and trying to get all my needles and hooks in generally one place. There were surprisingly few orphans. I find it funny that even though I have so many needles and hooks, still I can't find the needle or hook I want at times.
I'm still recovering from Clemson's loss to Carolina yesterday, but I have the pro game to console me. So far, I've done pretty well in the Thanksgiving game for the league. Since I lost Donovan McNabb, I picked up Joey Harrington who did well. I also picked up Kansas City's defense who did okay too.
I'm going to roll the dice, and play Shaun Alexander today.
And eat more leftovers.
