Going for the Golds!
I know exactly what my project will be too.
It's the Romantic Cardigan from the new book Vintage Styles for Today.
I first saw it on Bron's blog and went out and brought it the same day. Then, I saw the thread for the Crocheting Olympics. Then I discovered that I have the recommended yarn in stash, so I feel it's meant to be.
Is a Drug Test Necessary?
Honestly, I don't think so, I crochet fast, and really, all the prep work I need for the cardigan to swatch and read the pattern. Besides, Bron is making it right now, so I will know if there are any problems with before the start date.
I've already brought the yarn for Dibs, and made a gauge swatch.
Bad photo, but I like how the yarn works.
I've made gauge with the recommended needles, studied and broke down the pattern, and practiced the provisional cast on. I'm also reading through The Knitter's Book of Finishing Techniques to get over my fear of seaming.
So you see, I have a plan. Even if I crash and burn, I've already learned some new things and will have fun. I don't need a drug test, really I don't. Really. Yes really, but I will submit a sample if asked.
Besides, Kimberly, a long time crocheter and a novice knitter, is joining both Olympics too.
Any other crazies out there? Also, I would love a button for us dual athletes. If you can make one, let me know.
Well, almost done. I need to clip some ends. I'm not crazy about the cord (the yellow marker was on there from the store--too lazy to take it off), but Molly is very creative and will hook it up with something nice.
I'm sure Molly will model the skirt when all is said and done. I also have the yarn to make myself one, but who knows when that will happen.
Knits with a Southern Accent.
Look what I got from Bron.
I brought a book from her, and she added the markers. How cute!!!
Even though I lived in the south nearly 30 years, I spent my first 14 in New York City, so my accents is sort of a North/South hybrid.
Of course, as she pointed out to me, accent is also a sense of style too, and I do consider myself a Southerner in that respect.
P. S. I got back to Eris, and she should be done very soon.
